Reflections
As I look over this last year and assess how the value of technology has added to my classroom success, I am astounded. The number of different types of technologies available has given me an amazing advantage in the classroom that I didn't expect to find. The types of technologies I introduced included: Wikispaces, Senteo, SmartBoard games and activities, video editing and podcasting. In addressing the need of the new Freshman, it becomes very clear that these technologies need to provide a more interactive approach to the style of learning we incorporate with new curriculum.
Introduction Colleagues
I introduced the method of creating the Wikispace to my collegues during our collaboration time and the one thing I kept hearing was, "Does this actually benefit the student?". I am here to to say that it definitely has a positive impact on the ability of the student to learn a difficult subject, especially when we are learning something as challenging as Shakespeare.
Final Thoughts
My overall impression of this grant experience has been nothing but positive. I have walked away with valuable tools that can aid me in finding success in my classrooms that I might not normal find. By introducing varied instruction without fences or walls, I can allow the students to find the success through projects rather than stringent assessments.
